The Snow-Storm

With snow falling all over the nation this week, I couldn’t help think of a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson. It goes like this…

“Announced by all the trumpets of the sky,
Arrives the snow; and driving o’er the fields,
Seems nowhere to alight; the whited air
Hides hills and woods, the river and the heaven,
And veils the farm-house at the garden’s end…”

“The sled and traveller stopped, the courier’s feet
Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit
Around the radiant fireplace, inclosed
In a tumultuous privacy of storm.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson, The Snow Storm

Wherever you may be … enjoy the beginning of winter and stay warm and safe.

Teresa,
Lovely photos and Emerson is one of my favorites. We are in Durham, NC zone 7 and we have managed to not get this snow.
